Front Entrance, Hall and Stairs

We’ll start the tour at the front entrance. There’s a full width patio, with room for a few chairs and other goodies. It’s enclosed so you can enjoy the day (or night) mosquito free. As you enter, there’s a staircase immediately to the left and cubby holes along the hallway wall. Further down the hall on the right is the office. It’s roomy and has A/C so you can work comfortably (but only if you really have to).

Garage and Laundry

Next to the entrance is a 2 car garage with access to the house. In the first photo you can see the propane tanks that the generator is connected to, which are for the most part full and included. Each tank holds about 375 gallons of propane and can provide up to about 1 week of emergency power if you’re conservative with your consumption. The house itself is fed with 150A of power @ 120 volts and has a special 250V feed for the workshop too. There is also access to the laundry/utilities room, and maid’s room complete with bath and shower.

Living Room and Kitchen

Coming in from the garage takes you straight into the living area. The doorway in the second picture is from the garage. Next to that is a guest bathroom. The whole area is open to the kitchen and dining areas and many windows create a bright and cheery atmosphere.

The high ceilings and fans allow for really good airflow, keeping the room cool in the Panamanian heat. All the cabinetry in the kitchen was custom made from Spanish Cedar (cedro amargo) and LED lighting is used throughout the house.

Master Bedroom

The stairs that we saw at near the entrance lead to the second floor master bedroom suite, aka “Las Hamacas” because we often like to lay in them on cooler days on the balcony. The room is air-conditioned and has its own dressing area, walk-in closets and his and her sinks and a large shower.

Connected to it is a gym room which can also be converted into a small theater room. We had originally planned to do that but decided we probably need the exercise more!

Terrace

Connected to Las Hamacas, is the terrace. Great for hosting events and having get togethers, the large area can accommodate lots of people. You can get great views of the sun rising over the ocean and on a clear day see for miles. In the last photo, you can see Santa Catalina in the distance.

Backyard

We also have a very large backyard. The lot itself measures about 6,926m² (the house only takes up 680m² of it, do the math…) and with just a smattering of trees, it’s pretty open to do with as one pleases. We’re not much for gardening but there’s lots of potential for planting all kinds of pretty plants and flowers for those so inclined. Things grow like crazy in the tropical climate so if you can plant it, it will probably grow here.

Also pictured is the pump house. It’s connected to a pressure tank that feeds the house, so there’s always pressure available for your daily needs. In the last photo you can see our trusty Generac generator. It’s a quality brand and for those technically inclined, you can see the specs here.

Guest House

The guest house has its own separate entrance but one can easily access the main house via the shared patio. The stairs you see in the first photo lead up to the terrace and 2nd floor master room. Both bedrooms are furnished as shown and have their own bathroom. Perfect if you have teenagers in the house, no more fighting over who gets to use the bathroom first! In addition there’s a full kitchen with all the amenities.

Last stop, the workshop. Fed by two 50A feeds there’s plenty of power available to power your shop tools and other equipment. In fact the guys made good use of it during the build, as you can see. But no worries, it is clean and clear now. There’s 2nd level as well for storing materials and other consumables and a small office in the back and parking space for your truck which can also double as a patio if you fancy turning it into a party room instead. Did someone say par-tay? Hell yea!
